Thanksgiving Spirit
I am such a jaded a-hole for the most part. Always second guessing people and their motives. This of course is due to the countless number of stream roll successfull episodes that have left me flat! In the face of all of this, and in my attempt to always become a better person, I am astonished in the best way possible by people who extend themselves out of pure niceness...it gives me hope gosh darn it all to heck!
Let me set the stage. First comes the knock at the door. Next comes my reluctance to answer the door, which is comical considering I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness and knocked on many doors hoping no one would answer! Needless to say my ignoring it only got another knock. This time the my fiance asks me to answer. Okay...I've been eating Doritos and I have crumbs on my shirt and you know how they stink up everything, so yeah, I really want to answer the door. Well I'm glad I did! Our neighbor just invited us to Thanksgiving dinner. This is great!
Typically I would go to my family's and spend it with them but this particular year there is a level of dysfunction that will not be ignored and so I was planning on a nice quiet meal for two.
So here I am, refreshed that I have the opportunity to be with friends, people who chose to invite us unsolicited and completely out of kindness. That Thanksgiving spirit can melt even the most jaded a-hole. You like how I used Thanksgiving and a-hole in the same sentence, I know you do!
